National Leader / President

The National Leader/President is responsible for:

1. Providing political and ideological direction for the movement, guided by the principle of collective leadership.
2. Acting as the primary spokesperson on matters of national importance.
3. Resolving internal disputes to maintain harmony and order.
4. Ensuring the ethical standards of the BCM are upheld.
5. Leading negotiations for coalitions or strategic partnerships.
6. Signing for the organisation’s bank account.

Deputy National Leader / President

The Deputy President deputises for the President in:

1. All national political, organisational, and ceremonial functions when the President is unavailable.
2. Ensuring continuity of leadership while maintaining fidelity to the Movement’s collective principles and protocols.

National Chairperson

1. Presiding over all formal meetings of the National Officials, ensuring quorum requirements are met, agenda items are followed, and procedures are strictly observed, to maintain order, discipline and structure within the leadership collective.
2. Validating minutes and official records of all meetings of the National Officials, confirming decisions are accurately recorded and communicated, and safeguarding institutional memory.
3. Upholding accountability within the leadership collective, ensuring resolutions, timelines and reporting duties are honoured by all national officials, deployees, provincial and branch structures.

National Secretary General

1. Serves as the principal organisational administrator, ensuring systems, structures, programmes and decisions are properly documented, communicated and executed across all levels of BCM.
2. Serves as custodian of all official records, including minutes, resolutions, policy documents and membership records, preserving institutional memory and ensuring accessibility to relevant people in the organisation.
3. Ensures seamless administrative functioning of BCM — convening meetings, circulating agendas and reports, minute-keeping, and following up on action items from collective decisions.
4. Oversees membership systems and verification protocols, ensuring new applicants are processed according to national procedures, linked to Voting District Branches, and integrated into political education and participation programmes.
5. Chairs or coordinates administrative and constitutional review processes to ensure continuous improvement of internal systems and organisational policies.

Deputy National Secretary General

1. Deputises for the Secretary-General, performing delegated functions and supporting the execution of all core administrative and governance responsibilities of the Secretariat in a manner that maintains the Movement’s operational integrity and continuity.
2. Is the primary drafter of formal organisational documents, such as Terms of Reference (TORs), governance frameworks, internal operating procedures, and policy instruments.

National Organiser

1. Leads the activation of communities, volunteers, and supporters across all provinces in alignment with BCM’s strategic direction.
2. Coordinates the deployment of organisers and mobilisers to provincial, regional, sub-regional, and ward-level structures, ensuring equitable resource allocation and support across all regions.

National Treasurer

1. Leads financial management by overseeing budgeting, expenditure tracking, and alignment with internal controls and BCM’s broader financial policies.
2. Leads BCM’s national fundraising strategy — developing ethical campaigns, donor pipelines, and mobilisation plans.
3. Cultivates relationships with progressive funders and solidarity partners.
4. Prepares and presents regular resource mobilisation reports, sharing campaign performance, risk insights and sustainability strategies with National Officials.
5. Chairs the National Fundraising Committee, coordinating planning sessions, oversight of donor relations, and capacity-building across provincial structures.
6. Organises donor engagement events and visibility campaigns to ensure BCM programmes are well understood and supported by aligned funders.
7. Ensures all fundraising efforts adhere to BCM’s governance and political integrity protocols.
8. Advises the President’s Office and Secretary-General’s Office on strategic resource opportunities and risks, ensuring unity across financial and political mobilisation.

National Chaplain

1. Leads the spiritual and moral grounding of BCM and its activities, ensuring all actions and campaigns are rooted in integrity, compassion, and ethical service to the people.
2. Facilitates interfaith gatherings for prayer, reflection, and unity, convening religious leaders from diverse traditions during key organisational milestones and programmes.
3. Mobilises religious leaders and institutions to actively support BCM’s objectives, engaging churches and other faith-based formations in the pursuit of social justice and community upliftment.
4. Provides pastoral care to volunteers, leaders, and members, offering guidance, counselling, and emotional support during moments of crisis, stress, or personal difficulty.

National Council of the Elderly

1. Offers strategic guidance and advisory support to the President and other organisational levels on key policy decisions and organisational directions.
2. Mediates internal disputes and conflicts within the movement to maintain harmony and unity among members and structures.
3. Preserves and promotes the cultural, traditional and spiritual heritage of South Africa.
4. Ensures ethical standards and integrity are upheld in all BCM activities and decisions.
5. Mentors emerging leaders, providing wisdom to nurture the next generation of leaders and officials within the organisation.
