Bophuthatswana Civil Movement Applauds the Work of the Madlanga Commission

For Immediate Release

Thursday, 20 August 2026

The Bophuthatswana Civil Movement (BCM) applauds the work of the Madlanga Commission and the credibility it has demonstrated thus far in uncovering serious allegations of corruption, maladministration and wrongdoing within government entities.

The Commission’s work has brought to light matters that were previously hidden from the public, highlighting the extent to which corruption and maladministration can undermine good governance, public confidence and economic growth.

The Bophuthatswana Civil Movement calls for all individuals implicated in wrongdoing to be thoroughly investigated and, where sufficient evidence exists, prosecuted without fear or favour. South Africa cannot afford another situation where serious allegations are exposed by a commission of inquiry but fail to result in appropriate accountability and prosecution.

We believe that the lessons from the Zondo Commission must guide the country going forward. Investigations and findings must translate into meaningful action against those responsible for corruption and state capture.

The Bophuthatswana Civil Movement believes and trusts that the Madlanga Commission will contribute meaningfully to strengthening accountability, fighting corruption and addressing maladministration that has continued to derail the country’s economic development.

BCM calls on law-enforcement and prosecutorial authorities to act decisively on credible evidence emerging from the Commission and ensure that nobody is above the law.
